PHOTO/PRINT COMPETITION
Photo/Print
Entry Rules
(Entries to be received at the January/10 meeting and winners
announced at the February/10 meeting.)
The
photo/print competition is designed to allow a view of your
gardening vision and creativity in an image context. Every
club member is eligible to submit up to two unframed 4 x 6
inch photo/print entries in each of the categories outlined
below. In all cases the original image must have been exposed
by the entrant, but printing and mounting may have been done
either by the entrant or commercially (the maximum mount size
is 7.5 x 9.5 inches).
For
best display, 4 x 6 inch photos/prints should be mounted on
a flat board (e.g. foamboard or photographic board), on the
reverse side of which the entrant is to record (upper left
preferably):
(1)
Name of entrant;
(2) Category of photo/print for identification purposes.
No
name or title is permitted on the front side of the print.
Some
prints may be scanned for use in our society newsletter.
In the judging of the photo/prints, the primary factors are
horticultural value, photographic value and appearance and
impact. Factors also include: exposure and focus, image content
and composition. Relationship to the category theme is also
an important factor. The overall presentation, including mounting,
is also taken into account.
Ribbons and points will be awarded as per the horticultural
division of society flower shows, and a small prize will be
awarded to the winner of the "Best in Show".
